Elitainers Klub, a philanthropist and a nonprofit organization, on Saturday March 17, 2019, provided food items and clothing to persons with disabilities and street beggars in Freetown as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
The donated items include rice, Maggi, palm oil, clothes, milk, and cash, among others.
According to Alimamy Bangura, a senior member of the club, the donation to less privileged is one of the club’s yearly activities. He said that apart from the donation, they also undertake other activities.
He said that this year, they realized that a large number of persons with disabilities and the less privileged would want to observe the holy month of Ramadan, but could find it difficult to get food to eat, that is why they took up the venture to support them.
Bangura said that they have never received support from government and other organizations. He said that the organisation raises funds from members’ contributions and from fund raising events organise by the organisation.
One of the beneficiaries, Pa Abu Koroma applauded Elitainers Klub for supporting them in this holy month of Ramadan. He said that they are very pleased to receive the support from the organisation.
He said that they indeed find it difficult to feed themselves in this holy month, and that is why many of them abstain from fasting because they don’t have enough to eat.
Another beneficiary, Augustine Alfred Kalokor said that the Elitainers Klub is the first organisation to support them in this the holy month.
